How to read your payslip from DataLøn

Below, we walk you through the different elements on a payslip and explain what they mean. If you have questions about your specific payslip, please contact your employer.

How to read your payslip

The explanations for each item on the payslip are shown here:

1. Salary period and payout

The period you are paid for, and the date your salary is available in your account.
“Amount to be paid” is your net salary after tax and other deductions.

2. Working hours

Number of working hours in the salary period.

3. Vacation-qualifying salary

Your gross salary before tax and deductions.
It is calculated from your hours worked and your hourly rate.

4. Employee pension contribution

Your own pension contribution for the period, usually calculated as a percentage of your gross salary.
Your employer’s contribution appears under item 11.

5. ATP contribution

A mandatory labour market pension for all employees over 16.
The amount is deducted automatically and paid out when you retire.

6. Taxation of employee benefits

Tax on the value of benefits such as health insurance or a work phone.

7. Labour market contribution

A mandatory 8% contribution paid by all employees.

8. A-tax

Income tax deducted from your salary after your tax deduction has been applied.

9. Tax deduction

Your personal tax allowance, which reduces the income used to calculate your A-tax.
The amount is determined by the Danish Tax Authority (SKAT).

10. Adjustment

Reversal of employee benefits that have been taxed but are not paid out to you.

11. Pension (total)

Both your own pension contribution and your employer’s contribution for the period.
The full amount is transferred to your pension.

12. Vacation allowance

Your net vacation allowance for the period after A-tax and the labour market contribution have been deducted.
The calculation can be found under item 13.

13. Savings

If you are part of a savings scheme, a portion of your salary is set aside for this plan (such as a free choice plan, special bank holiday supplement, or Great Prayer Day supplement).

14. Vacation overview

Overview of your vacation days: earned, used and any days carried over from previous years.

15. Total savings

Your accumulated savings year to date.
Savings for the current salary period can be found under item 13.

16. Year-to-date balances

Your balances for the year so far. These are updated for each salary period.
